So this is our story: three Argentinean sisters, Mariel, Marina, and Maria Alemann, all Miami based, started in 2008 this eco-friendly company with a mission in mind: To build a new generation of conscious consumer. Help our planet and others while offering really comfy and beautiful shoes.
How do we achieve this goal? By educating our customers through the example:
Ombu works with Trees for the Future: for every purchase Ombu is committed to plant a tree in an extremely impoverished country. The mission is to help those in need by providing them with resources for a better life. It all starts with a seed.
WHY TREES? Because they change lives. They provide food, forage for animals, and wood for fuel and construction. They increase agricultural yields, improve water infiltration and aquifer recharge, and protect soils from wind and water erosion.
YOU CAN DO IT TOO...Every pair of shoes comes with a seed for the customer to plant. This way, two trees could be added to the environment for every one pair of eco-friendly shoes!
WHAT DOES OMBU MEAN? OMBU is a massive evergreen tree native to the Pampas of South America and this type of shoe, which is handcrafted espadrilles, is a traditional Argentinean shoe that is commonly known as “alpargatas”. This footwear is a trend that is growing more popular with the awareness of the Green movement.
We want to share with the world our idea of simple, eco-friendly and comfy shoe while creating a social and environmental responsible company that cares for our planet and the people.
Ombu is not just a shoe brand is a new LIFESTYLE... Walk in!
